FootJoy™ Manufacturer's Shoe Care Instructions

Upper Cleaning and Care
Clean leather or synthetic uppers as soon as possible after each round with FootJoy Cleaner or mild soap and a soft cloth. For shoes with all-white uppers, FootJoy's White Shoe Kit is the easy way to care for them. All other Calfskin or Full Grain leather upper shoes should be cleaned and conditioned with Leather Lotion, then to achieve a shine, rub FootJoy Shoe Creme into the leather.

Apply Shoe Creme in a small circular pattern, rubbing in well. FootJoy offers four different colors of Shoe Cremes: White, Black, Burgundy, and Brown plus a Neutral Shoe Creme to be used on all other leather upper colors.

Nubuc leather shoes should be treated with FootJoy's Nubuc Care Kit, first using the liquid cleaner to remove dirt and then brushing the uppers to raise the nap. Oil-tanned nubuc is tanned to show deliberate variations in color, and can simply be wiped clean with a soft, damp cloth. Oil-Tanned Nubuc uppers can be conditioned with FootJoy Leather Lotion, but this may darken the shoe color.

For enhanced waterproof protection, FootJoy Weather Proofer offers extra protection against rain and dew for both leather and synthetic shoe uppers. Regular reapplication of Weather Proofer is required to maintain this added protection.

Outsole Cleaning and Care
Leather outsoles and welt areas of FootJoy Classics-Dry and Classics should be cleaned with a damp cloth and treated with FootJoy Mars Oil regularly. This solution makes the outsole more supple, improves water resistance plus provides added flexibility. Synthetic outsoles can be wiped clean with a damp cloth, and require no further maintenance.

Shoe Care Tips
For best results, you should own at least two pairs of golf shoes. Properly maintained and alternated, two pairs will last much longer than twice the life of a single pair. Rotating shoes between wear allows the shoe materials to recover and dry naturally, and improves their comfort.

Do not use heaters or blow dryers to artificially dry your shoes - this damages leather. If your shoes become soaked, placing newspaper inside for 8-10 hours will soak up any excess water. Then remove the newspaper and use cedar shoe trees.

Cedar shoe trees not only keep the uppers in their normal shape, but also smooth out shoe linings and absorb remaining moisture. Plastic shoe trees should not be used, as they do not absorb moisture and may encourage mildew to grow.

Properly sized cedar shoe trees leave a fresh scent and should be in your golf shoes when not in use. Do not store your golf shoes in the trunk of a car or in direct sunlight, where high temperatures cause material damage and decrease the lifespan of your shoes.

Finally, use a shoe horn when putting on your shoes. This will keep the heel counter from breaking down and maintain a comfortable fit.

Maintaining Golf Spikes
When most spike posts have worn down to an 1/8" or so, replace all the spikes on both shoes at the same time. This will make your shoes more comfortable to walk in as well as enhance their performance. Most Golf Professional Shops will perform this service for a nominal charge.
